On-Level: This week was all about elapsed time. Next week we will continue working on time and begin working with line plots and measurement again. We will have a check in on Tuesday. Advanced: This week we made equivalent fractions, compared fractions, and ordered fractions using common denominators. We will work on word problems using volume and mass next week and take our unit assessment on Thursday. Acc Math: This week we discussed all different units of measure. We learned about conversion. Next week we will be solving word problems with different units of measure. We will have a check in on Friday. Social Studies: This week we continued learning about the 3 branches of government. Next week we will begin elapsed time. The unit retake will be on Thursday, March 24th. Advanced: We began unit 3: fraction equivalents this week. This is a very short unit with only 3 standards. Our unit test will be Thursday, March 31st. The retake of unit 2 will be Tuesday, March 22nd. Acc Math: This week we started our LAST unit of the year (Measurement) before we start reviewing for Milestones. We made GALLON MAN to learn all of the different units of measure for liquid. We compared different units of measure for liquid, weight, and length. Next week we will start converting units. We will have a check in on Friday. Social Studies: Democracy was introduced this week. We learned the difference between rules and laws. The 3 branches of government were introduced and we learned all about Executive Branch. This week we focused on division and using a variety of strategies. We are moving our assessment until Thursday, March 10th for extra practice to master skills. Morning help sessions with Mrs. Dempster each day beginning at 7:10 for more practice. Multiplication facts mastered are key for these units. Please practice with your child at home to reinforce this skill. Acc Math: This week was all shapes and symmetry. Next week we will review and move our assessment to Thursday, March 10th. Science: We are learning all about heat. This week we learned about heat energy, conductors and insulators. Next week we will move to reading thermometers and conducting a fun experiment. |
