5.9-5.10 Math Milestones 5.12-5.16 3rd grade i-ready diagnostic testing 5.19 Field Day 5.25 Class Party 5.25 Last Day of School Milestones testing will begin next Wednesday, May 3rd. Please see the schedule above and ensure your child gets a good nights sleep and arrives before 7:40am on testing days. If they are not feeling well, please do not send them to school and they can make up the test on another day! While we have been talking with the students about the assessment, we want to reinforce that this assessment helps to play a role in them passing 3rd and 5th grade. We want ALL students to do their very best and feel encouraged and supported by both the school and their families. Please help to reinforce that they have learned so much this year and this is their chance to show how much they have grown and should be proud of their hard work! Please do not forget to send a snack especially on testing days and have students eat a healthy breakfast for brain power! Reading This week we took our reading milestones test! We will start our i-ready diagnostic testing Monday May 15th. In between these assessments we will be working on a novel study project that will be our major grade for unit 6. We will take the unit 6 assessment on Wednesday May 16th since it is required by the district but it will not count as a grade since they will be worn out from all this testing! Writing Students wrote several writing pieces on the milestones! In the coming weeks we will spend our writing time working on our novel study projects and if time permits writing our own adapted fairy tales. Phonics This week we worked on building fluency with Open and Consonant-le Multisyllable words. Next week we will work on Building Fluency: Vowel Teams, Multisyllable words. Math All Levels: All levels have finished their last unit assessments and the remainder of the year will be focused on rocking our math milestones and reviewing standards from the year in preparation for next year. It is very important that all 3rd grade student work towards memorizing their multiplication facts 0-12 by the end of the year, having these facts mastered is critical for the work they will do in 4th grade. Using flash cards or multiplication games at home are a great way to work on these! Science: This week students worked on a heat creativity menu. Next week we will start our last social studies unit: economy!
