5.25 Class Party (will also sign yearbooks/autograph books this day if your child wants to bring their yearbook back to school)
5.25 Last Day of School Reading We finished up i-ready diagnostic testing this week and are enjoying our read aloud: The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles. This book by Julie Andrews is imaginative and we have had fun sketching what we imagine as we read. Over the summer, encourage your children to read what they love! We want to build a life long love of reading and having a few books on a summer reading list is a great way to keep it up from the school year. Writing This week students are engaging in optional fun writing activities such as reflections on third grade or adapted fairy tales! Student's notebooks will be coming home and if they have a blank pages left in their notebooks you can encourage them to write creative stories or journal about their summer adventures. Phonics This week we will worked on building fluency with vowel-r, multisyllable words. We will take one last phonics assessment to end our year next week, not counted for a grade but just to "show what they know". Math All Levels: This week we finished our math diagnostic and we are so proud of how everyone has grown this year. It is very important that all 3rd grade student have their multiplication facts 0-12 memorized before starting 4th grade. Using flash cards or multiplication games at home over the summer is a great way to prepare! Science: This week started our Econ and Me! PBSkids series which is a fun way for students to see economy in a children's context. We took two online check ins and are looking forward to a great week next week!
